Teammates...

Live event gigs are always more fun when other shooters are around…

…especially when we turn the cameras on each other 🙂

From the moment the event begins until everyone says goodbye, I never stop shooting.

You never know when a magical moment that illustrates the energy and vibe of the room might happen, right?

That includes everyone involved in the room, not just the facilitator and participants. I’m also talking about the support staff, as well…

…especially when they have a camera in their hands :)

On several occasions, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the event space with talented videographers. Working with these folks reminds me that even though I love where I am in my life and business, I do miss the camaraderie of working within a team environment.

One particular videographer that I get excited to work alongside is Erick Magana.

I’ve known him for several years as we’ve shared a space to work many times.

At this point, we both know how to stay out each other’s way through careful choreography that no one else in the room even notices - and we like to keep it that way as they’re there to learn and not be distracted by the camera dudes in the room.

Since I enjoy his company, I am constantly motivated to capture some cool, behind-the-scenes shots of him in action that he can use to promote his business:

It’s fun capturing someone in their element, especially when it’s a fellow creative like him.

It’s not really part of the deliverables for the client, and Erick’s never asked specifically for any photos - it’s just something I like to do because I see a moment and I want to capture it, and never expect anything else in return.

However, the other day, I got an unexpected surprise sent to my inbox.

He sent over a short video clip of behind-the-scenes photos of me taking photos during a recent 2-day mastermind event.

This was the first time I’d seen footage of me shooting a room like this, which was very cool, indeed.

With all that kneeling down, I can definitely see why my knees are so jacked up at this point 😂

Either way, this clip is a nice reminder why I enjoy working with him - we take care of each other, which is exactly what you need when working with teammates looking to deliver magic.
