The 3-Minute Brand Audit: Visible or Just "Present"

A Quick Diagnostic to See If Your Visuals Are Pre-Selling or Repelling.

You have the expertise, the track record, and the testimonials.

But does your digital presence actually feel like you?

Most experts are losing opportunities not because they aren't good at what they do, but because there is a friction between who they are in real life and who they appear to be on a screen.

When that friction exists, your ideal client hesitates. They can’t quite put their finger on it, but the "vibe" is off.

Let’s remove the guesswork.

Take this 3-minute audit to see if your visual strategy is paving the way for your next level, or if it’s quietly putting up roadblocks.

Score yourself: Give yourself 1 point for every "YES."

PART 1: THE ESSENCE CHECK

These questions are about the first impression matching the human being in front of the camera.

  1. If a stranger looked at your LinkedIn profile and then met you for coffee 10 minutes later, would they feel like they met the exact same person? Or is there an expert persona version online and a real version in person?

  2. Does your main profile photo explicitly signal how you want to be perceived? For example, if you want to be seen as a high-stakes advisor, do you look calm and grounded? If you want to be a disruptor, do you look bold and energetic?

  3. Can I tell within 5 seconds if you are warm and inviting, or intense and analytical? Does the photo capture your actual personality, or is it just a safe expression?

PART 2: “SHOW HOW THE SAUSAGE IS MADE”

This is about being caught in the act of serving your people.

  1. Do you have photos that show you facilitating, listening, or leading a room?

  2. Do you have visuals that show how you get results? For example, you’re at a whiteboard mapping strategy, reviewing onboarding materials, deep in focus?

  3. If a prospect looked at your in-action photos taken during an event, would they know you are still active and relevant today, or does your appearance completely mismatch with how you look today?

PART 3: THE "YES, AND"

These are the professional signals AND the personal touches that paint a full-scope personal brand.

  1. Do you have detail shots of your tools? Books you’ve written? Awards you’ve earned? Other artifacts that quietly whisper, "I’m a pro and I have the track record"?

  2. Do you share glimpses of your life outside the work? The morning ritual, the travel chaos, the family life, hobbies and other important areas of interest? The things that make you a human being, not just a logo and tagline?

  3. Do your photos show where you work? Does your environment reinforce the premium nature of your service, or is it a mystery?

THE DIAGNOSIS

0-3 Points: The "Best Kept Secret" You’re relying heavily on your words and referrals of others to do the selling. Your visuals are a placeholder, not a signal booster. The opportunity here is massive: A single strategic branding session could fundamentally change how the market perceives your value.

4-7 Points: The "Safe" Bet You present well - that’s good. The issue? You still might look like everyone else. You have the "Yes" (professionalism), but you’re missing the "And" (uniqueness). It’s time for you to inject more of your actual essence into the story you tell visually.

8-9 Points: The Unmistakable Authority Your visuals are doing the heavy lifting. You’re pre-selling your expertise before you even say hello. Now, the goal is Evolution, keeping that library fresh so it evolves as fast as your business does.

The Next Step

Did you find a gap? Good.

Gaps create possibilities. It means you have low-hanging fruit to increase your perceived value through the way you present yourself visually.

If you close those gaps, you remove the friction that is currently slowing down your sales process, particularly when you’re not in the room to make a persuasive case for you being the obvious choice.

You make it easy for decision-makers to say yes because they can finally see what they are buying.

The good news? You don't need to fix everything overnight. You just need to identify the layers that are currently weak and strengthen them.
