Capturing the Magic of Reframe’s Immersive Workshop
“John has a really great vision for what good photography looks like…”
For a fast-paced, interactive workshop like Reframe’s, the goal isn’t just to document—it’s to immortalize the energy of collaboration, transformation, and impact.
Reframe, led by Hector and Carlos Garcia, delivers innovative, immersive workshops for accounting professionals that challenge outdated industry mindsets. Their 1-day experiences combine sharp facilitation with practical tools to reframe how leaders in the accounting space think and lead.
The format is dynamic. The energy is high. The transformation is real.
And they needed a photographer who could not only keep up—but see around corners, anticipate movement, and tell the story of the experience as it happened.
The Strategy: Deep Preparation + Stealth Execution
Weeks before they arrived in NYC for their workshop, we carved out time for a strategic walkthrough of the entire experience. During that call, we co-created a visual storytelling plan.
We outlined:
The flow of the day—how the content would unfold and what kinds of participant reactions were expected
Key brand moments to capture—staging and prep, overall room layout, branded books, workshop materials, key slides, team dynamics
How to photograph a real, messy, in-progress room without disrupting the attention of the facilitators and participants
That plan allowed me to move through the space with intention:
Anticipate where group exercises and a-ha moments would peak
Stay out of the way—while staying close to the action
Use purposeful composition to incorporate the messiness (coffee cups, Post-its, notebooks) as supporting texture—not visual clutter
After the session, Hector remarked:
“John was 100% engaged… paying attention to those moments that mattered most, and encouraging us to put ourselves in the best possible position to be captured in ways the moment will be immortalized.”
The Challenge: Fast Flow, Real Mess, No Room for Mistakes
Unlike branding sessions—where there’s full control over what’s being captured—a workshop is an entirely different beast. Everyone is engaged in the moment of learning, not paying attention to the camera (and rightly so).
But for the photographer, that means:
Constant movement. You don’t get second chances at moments that flash by.
Uncontrollable variables. Participants shift in their seats, unexpectedly react—completely changing shot composition by the second.
Visual chaos. Laptops, snacks, scribbled notes, group clusters—everywhere.
And yet, these are the moments that matter. This is what future participants want to see when they consider investing in a premium workshop: real people, actively learning, visibly engaged.
Stock images won’t cut it. Cell phone photos feel too casual. For Reframe, enhancing their credibility was the objective—and these visuals had to deliver that in spades.
The Results: A Marketing-Ready Visual Library That Sells Itself
Reframe didn’t just walk away with a folder of event images. They left with a visual asset library that fuels future growth and amplifies the power of what they deliver.
Genuine proof of engagement. The images show participants fully immersed—not staged.
Professional credibility. The visuals now match the caliber of their content, clients, and brand promise.
Strategic marketing tools. Reframe can now build landing pages, publish social posts, and promote new sessions without scrambling for visuals—or compromising with generic ones.
Visual assets for participants. Everyone in the room received a handful of candid, high-quality images of themselves asking questions, taking notes, and participating—images they can now use for their own marketing efforts.
These photos don’t just say “we hosted a workshop."
They say: "This is what it feels like to be in the room. And you need to be here next time. Don’t miss out."
Because moments like these deserve more than memory.
They deserve to be seen—again and again.
