Hi! I'm John. In my blog, I share insights that help Speakers and Expert-based Business Owners create an emotional connection with their audiences through persuasive visual storytelling.

Commemorate the moment with a selfie

Commemorate the moment with a selfie.

If a professional photographer can do it, so can you!

For many years, the idea of celebrating the conclusion of a successful session by taking a picture with my client never entered my mind.

Back then, I was of the opinion that my clients are the stars and I’m merely the guy behind the camera.

I look back to the hundreds of sessions I’ve conducted and wasted the opportunity to share my client’s joy on social.

It’s okay - I’m making up for lost time these days since I’m a big fan of the post-session selfie, :)

Why the change?

Well, as with the maturation of my entire social media strategy, I realized that it’s not just about illustrating your expertise through your social posts -  it’s about showing your personality, putting a face to that expertise and allowing your audience to see different shades of what makes me who I am.

Sharing image content with this type of personalized sentiment is a wonderful - and necessary - compliment to your thought leadership and that will help grow your tribe.

By capturing and sharing photos with your clients, it lets those who are considering to invest in your services that, yes, not only is this person good at what they do, but, they’re having a good time in the process.

Speaking of good time, this particular photo I took with my client, Chinwe, was a fun, little moment after she had just finished moderating and speaking as a panelist at a conference on anti-bribery.

Now, am I an anti-bribery expert? Of course not.

Did I understand what the hell they’re talking about - what do you think?

But what I did understand is that when she opened her mouth, her level of passion was palpable all the way in the back of the room. She was so demonstrative and purposeful with her body language, it really was inspiring to see her in her element, despite the fact that every word zipped right over my head.

After she spoke, I shared this thought with her and she was very appreciative, so, I found a spot for us to shoot a selfie so I could share that story, and visually punctuate it with the photo.

Was really excited to witness one of my clients, Chinwe Esimai getting on stage and doing her thing!
.
Yes, capturing branded lifestyle portraits is an amazing process, but, witnessing those very same people actually do the thing that they love to do in front of a captive audience is a motivating and moving experience.
.
When it comes to the work that I do and the people with which I collaborate, I want to be inspired and moved throughout, because this interaction contributes to my flourishing as a human being and fulfills my need to help those who help others, :)
.
I look forward to seeing more of her talks in the future - I’ll be sure to be there with a camera in tow, :)
.
Speaking of talks, do you have one coming up soon and are in need of a photographer who can capture some candid portraits of you from the stage?
.
I know a guy, and he’s interested in helping you out, :)

DM me to schedule a call to see if we’re a fit to work together!

You’d think that it would be easy peasy, selfie shot, right? After all, I’m a professional photographer who is creating a workshop leveraging smartphone photos, right?

Well, for the first few photos, I kept confusing the damn side buttons and was shutting the phone off and not taking pictures. Finally, I became one with the camera and snapped the photo I wanted,  and that’s why I have that silly grin on my face, :)

One way or the other, we got it done!

Despite my fumbling of the phone during this selfie, I have created a program that helps you leverage the camera sitting in your pocket right now to create image content that will help you gain the visibility you seek for your business and brand.

It’s called the Idea Nugget Incubator, a one-on-one idea generation program that helps retrain your awareness so that you are able to recognize interesting moments, thoughts, conversations and reflections that happen constantly throughout your day, write them down, and then expand on them later to create compelling and powerful social media content.

Packed with value, this program will train you to draw from interesting aspects of your life in order to teach valuable lessons to your tribe.

If you’re interested in learning more about the Idea Nugget Incubator, you can check it out here.

Any other questions - raise your hand by setting up a call with me so we can work it out.
