7 ways to use the photos taken during your audio book recording

About to record your audio book?

Be sure to have a photographer capturing behind-the-scenes magic.

Writing a book that aims to help readers get past a point of friction in their businesses and lives is a major accomplishment.

What’s even cooler is when that book is translated into an audio-only version.

I’ve been fortunate to be around a couple experts who’ve had the opportunity to create their audiobooks, and it’s a really interesting process.

It’s also exhausting and slightly tedious for the author, but an interesting peek into how the sausage is made, nonetheless.

Recently, I spent time with Melanie Deziel and Phil Jones as they recorded the chapters for their book, Prove it.

While there, I snapped a couple moments with my camera as they took turns voicing their sections of the book in the soundproof booth:

It’s an interesting experience capturing experts in this environment, as it’s a complete contrast to the photos of them on a stage that sits in front of hundreds, if not thousands, of people.

But, acting as a fly-on-the-wall during this process affords them an opportunity to share this interesting and powerful moment in time with those they serve.

But how can they be used?

Here are a couple ideas that I just spit-balled while flipping through the shots:

  1. Pick one photo and promote the audio book by placing the CTA directly onto the image

  2. Pick 1-3 images and write a post about the experience of audio recording your book

  3. Pull a quote directly from the book itself and place it into the negative space of one of the images

  4. Incorporate a handful of your favorite photos into the website landing page dedicated to promoting the print and audio versions of the book

  5. Create an Instagram Reel with a collage of photos that you like to show off another aspect of what your day-to-day life looks like - and pick fun music to include, too!

  6. Post them on Amazon along with photos of the book itself to give potentials readers or listeners an inside peek into how the sausage is made

  7. A gratitude post with an image and text in the negative space to acknowledge every sales milestone reached

While this list is far from exhaustive, it, nonetheless, allows you to see the opportunities afforded to you when you incorporate candid photos of your audiobook recording session.

After all, when you’re looking to create connection and foster trust with those you serve, give them an entry point into your business and life in order for them to get familiar with who you are, and how you can help solve their problems.

And sharing cool images like this is a good place to start :)
