Did you know that printing photos was still allowed?

Every now and then, I’m reminded of this fact by my clients, :)

It’s no surprise that the vast majority of the work in which I collaborate with clients is kept in the online digital realm - social posts, websites, digital ads, online programs, presentations, etc.

But, online isn’t the end-all, be-all of destinations for your branded lifestyle portraits.

I was reminded of this the other day when I came across a client’s Facebook post.

James was talking about his time spent delivering keynotes in Asia (pre-pandemic). Among the collage of photos that he posted, this one stood out:

At first, I thought to myself - wait, is that a photo I took?

And then I realized that it was, but, James had the background cut out and added the graphical element that you see in the banner.

Here’s the original:

It was the first time that I’ve ever seen a photo of a client printed that big before. It was pretty cool to see…

...but that was just the warmup, :)

You see, when I commented on this image, James then shared some more photos with me.

He said that the client really enjoyed this photo, so they also put it on this magazine cover:

Nice - killing two birds with one stone with this image - I’m loving it!

But wait, there’s more, :)

He then told me that one of the organizations that he spoke for in Asia also used the photo to create an award for him. He took a snapshot of it and sent that to me, as well:

This award is so cool and unique.

In all the years I’ve photographed portraits, I’ve never seen an image I’ve taken used in this way.

I know I need to add “create customized awards” to my list of ways to leverage branded lifestyle portraits on my website, :)

The biggest takeaway from running into this post is that despite all of the ways we leverage our images online, acquiring high-quality images that you can leverage to actually print in a way that benefits your business is a big value add to investing in a branded lifestyle portrait session.

After looking at the different ways James had this photo leveraged through print - banner/step-n-repeat, magazine cover, award - how can you incorporate printing your images into your business?

Brochures? One sheets? Virtual or in-person workshop workbook materials? Perhaps an award you can share with your clients after earning an accreditation program you offer?

How bout something completely off the wall?

Share your ideas in the comment section and let’s see how creative we can get, folks!

Not sure about it?

Well, I’m up to talking about it if you are.

Set up a time to chat with me and let’s brainstorm, shall we?
